History of 8th & Original Roster w/ RankFred London, Thu Nov 5 5:08pm
I know you have some of this background information posted on your old website, but this might be a bit more up to date. Of particular interest is that I was able to find the complete roster of all soldiers who were on the regimental roles of the 8th during the course of the War, 1863-65. What I am especially excited... more

Separation and ReunionFred London, Thu Nov 5 10:58am
Separation and Reunion For perhaps he was for this reason parted from you for a while, that you should have him back forever, no longer as a slave, a beloved brother-Philem. 15-16a Abraham Lincoln believed that in order to preserve the nation he would have to be willing to engage in a civil war. Conflict would have to ... more

Controversy Over Lincoln's FaithFred London, Thu Nov 5 10:47am
Controversy Over Lincoln’s Faith I have looked at Abraham Lincoln's background from his youth on up to his final days as president. It is clear to me that, in the very least, you can see an increase in a God-consciousness as he moved further into adulthood, with the death of his two young sons, and especially as the... more

For whatever it may be worth, below is an exchange I had not long ago with an individual who raised the issue of... more

Battle at Ft. DickersonFred London, Sun Nov 1 10:50pm
This question is simply for the sake of my own understanding and historical accuracy. From what I can glean from the historical background of the 8th TN, I see nothing that explicitly indicates that the 8th actually fought at Ft. Dickerson in Nov. of 1863. It would appear that though they were in the general region of ... more

WebsiteFred London, Sat Oct 24 10:51am
As someone who has recently become both aware and interested in your unit, I was wondering if someone will be updating your main website? The last recorded update goes back to Feb. 2008 and at first I wasn't certain as to whether your unit was still in existence. However, I am quite glad to discover that it is. But,... more
