    My father Alan Vincent Webster service number 4916195 Royal Welsh Fusiliers was captured in France in 1940 . He was sent to Stalag 344 Lamsdorf. He was interned for a period of 5 yrs 1940/1945.     My Grandad John Henry Hill, known as Jack, was RN but on merchant ship SS Tottenham which was sunk June 1941. He was in Marlag milag then moved to Stalag V111, he was on the long march.     In 1943 a number of sick and injured POWs were repatriated, escorted by able-bodied men, many of them from the Royal Army Medical Corps. Is there anyone who has connections with any POWs who were repatriated at that time, or who was one of the escorts?

    Does anyone remember my dad ,he was on the death march from Stalag344 sent to V111c marched out of there on 29th march 1945. He survived but badly damaged. He was Royal Tank man drove a Matilda and came from London

    20/08/1944 americans bombed the camp from flying fortresses at 10.32pm this seems to be the relevant detail that explains the aause of death of some inmates including James Gardiner

    My father Herbert Harry Whiting was a private in the Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment and was captured at Dunkirk and spent the rest of the war in Stalag 344 Lamsdorf, his POW number was 4940.
