4/20 discussion - Charles Dennisc, Fri Apr 20, 2012 5:44pm
Compared to past Englishes I've taken, including my 1100 class, I've learned a lot more from this 1200 class. The grading on papers was a lot tougher than I'm used to but it only makes people better writers and makes taking criticism a lot easier when receiving grades back. Not to mention I've never had a professor to ... more
4/20 Discussion - "11" - Andy Bates, Thu Apr 19, 2012 5:07pm
How has this English class been different from others you've taken? What do you feel you benefitted most from in the class? What do you feel you benefitted least from? Do you feel that the class met your expectations you set forth at the beginning of the semester? (Remember doing that?) This is not an invitation or... more

What topic have you settled on for your issue paper? What are the two sides of the argument? What do you feel will be the greatest challenge(s) of this paper?
  • 4/13 Discussion - Charles Dennis, Fri Apr 13, 2012 3:47pm
I still have two topics that I want to discuss but I'm leaning towards doing my paper on interracial dating. I feel like America has many different views on black, Hispanic, white and even Asian people dating each other depending on region of the country that they live in or even how they were raised. Some people are... more

What topic(s) are you considering for the issue paper? Why are you considering this/these topic(s)? What do you feel will be the two sides of the argument?
  • Issue Paper - Lexi Truesdale, Fri Mar 30, 2012 4:20pm
For my issue paper I am considering focusing on the arguments based on the second amendment, the right to bear arms. The issue over this amendment has been around for quite sometime and there are very strong and conflicting arguments on both sides. I personally chose this topic because I feel that it is important that ... more
    Discussion 3/30 - Charles Dennis, Fri Mar 30, 2012 2:12pm
For my issue paper I have two topics that I'm considering doing. My first topic I'm thinking about doing is abortion. Abortion has many different views and ways that people view it. Abortion has a religious view and a personal opinion that people take into consideration. I'm also considering the topic of gun... more

The topic I am considering for my paper is online medical information. I think this is a good issue to write about because there are many different topics that could be said about online medical information. For one side of my paper I will write about misleading medical information that is online and how this can... more

What progress (if any) have you made on your annotated bib? How has this paper differed from others you've done? What challenges have you faced doing this assignment?
  • Annotated Bibliography - Lexi Truesdale, Fri Mar 23, 2012 3:46pm
My annotated bibliography has worked out very well so far which has made me very happy. The source I picked has a lot of information so it has been easy to find go sources. I have finished seven online sources already so now all I have to do is work on the print sources. I pretty much have the sources I am going to... more
    3/23 Discussion - Charles Dennis, Fri Mar 23, 2012 1:23pm
For my annotated bibliography I have about half of my sources and citations listed and summarized. I've sat down twice to actually work on it and I plan on finishing it up this weekend. After contemplating between childhood diabetes and childhood obesity I decided to do my annotations on childhood obesity. There were... more
    Discussion 3/23 - Georgia Allen, Fri Mar 23, 2012 11:11am
Georgia Allen 3/23 On my annotated bibliography I have actually finished it and am very glad of that. This paper I found to be a huge frustration and to be a whole lot harder then what I imagined. I thought that summarizing a section in a book or what an article said but it actually turned out to prove me wrong. This... more
No Subject - Brianna Rinaldin, Fri Mar 23, 2012 10:31am
I am about half way done with my annotated bibliography. This is more than some people I guess. I thought about changing my topic when I started having difficulty finding enough sources. I am back to my original topic though. For my issue paper I am going to write about full inclusion vs. segregated schools for... more
    3/23 response - Austin Crowley, Fri Mar 23, 2012 9:11am
So far I have completed only two sources and am feeling good about them. I understand that it is quite behind schedule right now, but I feel confident in my ability to complete it before the deadline. This paper is not like anything I have ever done before and I find it very refreshing. I think that it is really... more

Which of the TC Boyle stories that we have read so far have you liked the most? Why? Which have you liked the least? Why? How do the Boyle stories differ from other material you've had to read in previous English classes?
  • 3/16 Discussion - Charles Dennis, Fri Mar 16, 2012 4:41pm
Out of the several TC Boyle stories we've read I've like the most recent one, Green Hell. All of the stories we've read I'm able to image and draw picture of everything that's going on. The detail and diction Boyle uses is very vivid and over the top but it's necessary to imagine the setting and moods that the... more
TC Boyle Book - Lexi Truesdale, Fri Mar 16, 2012 4:03pm
I believe that my favorite story that I have read so far in the TC Boyle book was the one called "Big Game". The story was filled with imagery that really helped me imagine the situation. The characters were also very complex as well. Not only was the story interesting but it was also fairly easy to follow. I have... more
    3/16 - Lauren Gray, Fri Mar 16, 2012 9:50am
I would have to say that none of the stories have had a great impact on me. I donít really enjoy reading, especially these stories where we have to analyze rhetoric and other aspects of them and their complexity. However, if I had to choose one story to be my favorite so far I would probably pick Green Hell. I felt... more

What topic have you chosen for the Annotated Bib? Why have you chosen this topic? What, if anything, did you find useful about the library instruction class? Have a great and safe Spring Break.
  • Annotated Bibliography - Charles Dennis, Fri Mar 2, 2012 4:55pm
For my annotated bibliography it was between choosing Italian Cousine and child diabetes. I chose to use sources that related to Italian cousine because I figured I'd save the child diabetes for another research topic when I can get really in depth. I did a general search on Italian cousine and got all types of... more
