1980 fj40 rebuilt 2f- I had a little leak around thermastat housing and decided to fix it. after installing both new gaskets and new thermastat it started over heating. pulled housing again and ckecked thermastat, it opened in boiling h20 .leak is fixed but ,now I have no heat and overheating. please help! thanks!

My '81 FJ40 will not pass California smog. My mechanic ran several tests and thinks the carb is bad, so I was considering doing a fuel injection conversion, but I do not know who sells them. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you, Nick T.

Is there any information on why a stock carb on a stock 1980 FJ40 will not develop full power response. It was a replacement carb from Spector about 3 years ago. Seems like I remember reading that here a couple of years back...I've removed the distributor, can I cut the handle off just the right screwdriver and spin the oil pump? If so, clockwise...correct? TIA

I have a 1968 FJ40 and the oil filter is a cartridge that goes into a bath and I was wondering if I could convert that to a screw on type oil filter, using something like the remote location adapters for drag cars... any ideas?

What is the most in height (arc) that a standard Toyota FJ40 leaf springs can be until you have to start messing with other components as in steering links and such? 2", 2.5", 3" ?

I just purcahsed a 86 fj 60 it has a throttle button right side of steering column lower. it produces a selnoid clicking up near carb. how does it operate? How am I sure it is off. engine idles high about 1200 rpm. idle screw does not reduce idle, thanks brent

I am trying to remove steering dampener from 86 fj60. the pins are tapered. tried pickel fork for tie rod end too big. tried heating the tie rod to expand it around the tapered pin. tried smal hydraluic jack couldnot get a straight shot at it. any more suggestions? thanks for the help brent

Hi, broke off a bolt in the thermo housing it wont come out..may buy a new housing but the ones I see for sale are missing a small plastic loop on the bottom of the housing like mine has. Does anyone know what the loop is as I have no clue? Thanks, Morgan
