Has anybody experienced or heard of anybody who experienced a squeak with their Stryker ceramic on ceramic total hip replacement prosthesis? Sometimes when I move my hip I hear a squeak but it's near my knee. Heard that this can be from the prosthesis and travels down the femoral stem. These THR protheses were... more

Leg length discrepancy after THRSandra_from_England, Fri Jul 3 6:19am
I am now 1 year post RTHR. I have already seen PTs about my swinging gait and written about it on this site. A family member who is a PT assessed me and said that the right leg was about half an inch longer than the left leg. I will mention it to my PT next Wednesday. Has anyone experienced this? Sandra

Oh, brother. Got myself to a podiatrist today, and I'm very thankful I got to a good one. Right away he knew it was a stress fracture causing my post-THR pain in my non-operated foot. He gave me a big horrible THING to wear on my foot. He called it a shoe, I call it The Thing That Ate the Foot. Three weeks in it. He... more

New to this gameRose, Wed Jul 1 2:11pm
For several years I was having pain in my hip. Finally went to the doc and where I was told that "eventually" I would need a hip replacement. I was thinking that meant when I started to wear out at 70 or so. But oh, no, at 58 they tell me I should do it now. There is a place here in Phoenix that supposedly has a new... more

I had THR on both sides. The prosaic that were have a replaceable nylon "cup" as part of the pelvic piece. I was told that the nylon would last 10 to 15 years, but it never occurred to me to ask how I will know when that time has come? Will I hear metal on metal sounds? Will I have pains? Will the steal be damaged if... more

This morning, I almost wrote a long, hysterical post about how crazed I'm getting...my surgery is scheduled for next week. I decided not to get into it but after reading several of today's posts, I can't help myself. I am praying this is the right decision.

feeling down 6 weeks post opnewfland1@att.net, Mon Jun 29 2:05pm
I am 55 yers old and had a THR 6 weeks ago. All I keep hearing from people I know is how great other people did post op - i.e. walking miles without pain in a few weeks, no cane after several weeks, etc. I find it very depressing hearing people telling me this when I don't feel my recovery has been fast enough. 21... more

Seven Weeks Walking, or Hobbling? Sarah , Fri Jun 26 6:47am
I'm seven weeks today. Yesterday I watched myself walk in the mirror at the gym and saw my left (unoperated) foot was turning in, a lot. Perhaps the cause of my foot pain. Then I tried walking more normally, and the adductors on the R side hurt, but foot didn't. Today I'm going to PT and will ask what he thinks, but I ... more
