Total Hip Replacement 5 months agoseekingterpsicore, Mon Nov 7 10:14pm
Hello there. I just found this Support Group and wanted to reach out. I am in my early 50 and had THR on left hip 5 months ago due to hip dysplasia. Surgery went well 2 days in hospital with no pain meds after I was home. After surgery I was not able to lift my leg so getting in and out of bed was a challenge. I have... more

    Five Weeks--and anteverted!sarah, Fri Nov 4 8:04am
Hi Everyone, Today is five weeks post-THR on my left. I saw the OS on Wednesday and he showed me the x-rays. He used a different kind of implant, one that corrects for anteversion. Seems the left hip, the one I was born with, was tilted, off-kilter to the right. I don't fully understand this, even though he showed it... more

    Hip Replacement?Heather, Tue Nov 1 9:00pm
Hello, Long story short, I have been struggling with severe chronic pain in my left hip for 7 years. It has substantially worsened over the last 6 months. My doctors refuse to prescribe me anything stronger than a mild NSAID for the pain which means most nights I get 4 hours of sleep tops, and that's not sequential. I ... more

Thanks for your response. PT is good advice the only problem is that I had to stop PT shortly after I did my THR due to the fact that it was messing up my back. I have stenosis and four discs are moving forward and there is some bulging. As always I appreciate all your advice. Best regards.

I just thought I would check with all of you regarding having an mri. I have fluid in knee in opposite side of the hip replacement. I am going to see ortho after 6 weeks of pain. If he wants an mri of my knee, is it ok or not? I have a bfh metal on metal hip. Thank you

Wondering if you guys have experienced this; I do get fleeting pain in THR area here and there and its a year now. Maybe its still healing is that possible?... more

Hip Noises Prior to SurgeryDebbie, Tue Sep 13 7:28am
I'm having my first hip replacement on November 14th. In the last 2-3 weeks my hip is making clicking noises when I move in bed at night, stand up, walk or do my workouts/stretches/exercises. Is this normal?

blood test resultssarah, Fri Sep 9 7:52pm
I just got, via email, my blood test results from my pre-op workup. Mean Platelet Volume is high, as is Relative Monocyte Count (it's 11, when 2.7-6.6 is normal. I've looked online and it seems this could be due to inflammation, which of course I have due to the arthritis. But it's Friday night and I'm a little... more

Saw orthopedic surgeon today - not good news - wound is not healing fast enough - they think that there is still infection. The doctor is proposing another surgery to clean out the hip will decide whether to take out prosthesis when in there. That would mean a spacer and additional surgery later on. Obviously not... more

Hi Everyone, Hope you guys are enjoying the summer. I have a question for you. Yesterday I had my kids over for lunch and then we went to the park. I am not very active because I sit at work most of the day and keep very long hours. When I get home I am so tired I just collapse on the couch for the rest of the night.... more

Have been in rehab center since the 16th, trying to get home to bed, quiet and some rest. The Pt people have cleared me, but after 11 days of heparin, a portion of my surgical wound is leaking - messy and somewhat offputting. The doctors dropped the heparin on the 25th, but it will take awhile to leave the system.... more

Hi Everyone, I met with my OS last week and discussed my pain symptoms, the advisability of waiting versus having another THR now, etc. etc. and the upshot was that I'm having it now. Not right this minute, but September 30. The next day, the pain was even worse. So I'm continuing on my exercise program, doing the PT... more

Hello everyone, I remember so vividly posting post on here when I had my first hip replacement at age 32 in 1998. (Born w/hip displaysia) It was a great source of encouragement to be able to share with people that understood. I posted on here couple weeks ago about having pain in the hip. In 1998 this year it was... more
