Wondering if you guys have experienced this; I do get fleeting pain in THR area here and there and its a year now. Maybe its still healing is that possible?... more

Hip Noises Prior to SurgeryDebbie, Tue Sep 13 7:28am
I'm having my first hip replacement on November 14th. In the last 2-3 weeks my hip is making clicking noises when I move in bed at night, stand up, walk or do my workouts/stretches/exercises. Is this normal?

blood test resultssarah, Fri Sep 9 7:52pm
I just got, via email, my blood test results from my pre-op workup. Mean Platelet Volume is high, as is Relative Monocyte Count (it's 11, when 2.7-6.6 is normal. I've looked online and it seems this could be due to inflammation, which of course I have due to the arthritis. But it's Friday night and I'm a little... more

Saw orthopedic surgeon today - not good news - wound is not healing fast enough - they think that there is still infection. The doctor is proposing another surgery to clean out the hip will decide whether to take out prosthesis when in there. That would mean a spacer and additional surgery later on. Obviously not... more

Hi Everyone, Hope you guys are enjoying the summer. I have a question for you. Yesterday I had my kids over for lunch and then we went to the park. I am not very active because I sit at work most of the day and keep very long hours. When I get home I am so tired I just collapse on the couch for the rest of the night.... more

Have been in rehab center since the 16th, trying to get home to bed, quiet and some rest. The Pt people have cleared me, but after 11 days of heparin, a portion of my surgical wound is leaking - messy and somewhat offputting. The doctors dropped the heparin on the 25th, but it will take awhile to leave the system.... more

Here we go againsarah, Mon Aug 22 8:00am
Hi Everyone, I met with my OS last week and discussed my pain symptoms, the advisability of waiting versus having another THR now, etc. etc. and the upshot was that I'm having it now. Not right this minute, but September 30. The next day, the pain was even worse. So I'm continuing on my exercise program, doing the PT... more

Hello everyone, I remember so vividly posting post on here when I had my first hip replacement at age 32 in 1998. (Born w/hip displaysia) It was a great source of encouragement to be able to share with people that understood. I posted on here couple weeks ago about having pain in the hip. In 1998 this year it was... more

    limpingJoanBllt, Wed Aug 3 6:22pm
At the moment, I feel sort of little mermaidish. I've been limping and very unhappy to put weight on my old(40 years old) THR. This has happened for periods in the past - usually when there are rapid weather changes - It's full summer now - some showery activity yesterday tho. The limping and pain has been just for a... more

Hi, I am new to this site - and am having trouble understanding the best course of treatment given my circumstances. Here's the skinny: a few years ago i had my left knee ACL repaired and fell on the ice on crutches and shattered my right arm, tore wrist and shoulder ligaments which was all "repaired". Then i started... more

Hi All, Question- I did some chair exercise with my clients and all night I had leg pain where I had my THR. Should I stop doing these exercises or should I ignore this. Also I noticed I am getting swelling on the top of my foot and by my ankles but the leg where I had the surgery gets more swollen. I sit a lot at my... more

more on dental and timing for THRsarah, Tue Jul 19 11:52am
I saw another dentist, and liked this one much more. She was very matter-of-fact and level-headed. She recommended "scaling" and then surgery on just one tooth. I'm having the scaling done this week. So, the question is this: is there a real advantage to having the oral surgery done before the hip surgery? Since I... more

Talking about dentists, I have a question. Before I did my hip I went to the dentist and they did a deep cleaning. he also said I had three cavities. I didn't fix them at that time since my surgery was scheduled soon after. Now that I have my THR and its about 11 months, I am wondering if I should wait another year... more
