If moderation is conducted as fairly and objectively as possible, and if the parameters for post deletion are strictly limited to matters of form (and not content, if you see what I'm getting at), then I don't think there's a huge risk of creating an "echo chamber." Easier said than done, I realize...

I don't know the poster well (and only opened a couple of his posts when he returned...let's just say I have a long memory and an unforgiving nature), but I would suspect that his objection was more to the "unfair" part than to the "overzealous" part. But as I said, I don't know him well at all.

I didn't realize Mondo called for aggressive moderation. That's surprising, since there is virtually no moderation on his board.
