The Democratic Party WAS the party of slavery and later, Jim Crow in the South. Republicans were the Party of Lincoln, Emancipation, and voting rights. So by that standard, it would be more on the Democrats.

Except that racism hasn't ended, and since the '60s, Republicans have taken over the South and become the party of racism, while Dems have abandoned their formerly racist base.

Bottom line, we need (IMO) to push for equality and equal opportunity, and a real social safety net which doesn't allow people to fall through it into poverty and failure.

Everybody's gonna have to work on that one...
