MF: Congress is planning to tax the shit out of fossil fuel power generation before they have a clue as how to replace it with a green energy source.

RM: Think of it as incentivizing American ingenuity. I hear a lot about how we can use technology to get ourselves out of this mess: here's the motivation to get started.

My question is why should the American Public get stuck with grossly higher energy costs resulting from Congress pushing through the "Cap'n'Trade" Bill before we have any real feasible replacement energy technology? Why not just offer tax credits and other incentives to companies and investors who want to invest in developing new energy technology? Penalizing everyone is hardly an incentive. Why do we all have to be penalized in the name of making progress when there are other more positive incentives?
