I went to Vanderbilt with 2-term Governor/Senator Lamar Alexander, worked in his Gubernatorial campaign, and was "Knighted" a "Tennessee Colonel Aide de Camp" in 1980 by Lamar for my efforts. The foregoing notwithstanding, I have no more "pull" with Lamar than any of the other 5-or-6 million Tennesseans.

We are in the process of contacting our Congressman Jim Cooper now that there seems to be a chance to change the way things are done. The Democrats have shot themselves in the foot by sneaking around and trying to cram some bastard bill down everyone's throat. You will begin seeing flocks of Democrats pulling away from the stench of Pelosi/Reid/Obama lest they get summarily tossed out the door in G'2010. There are numerous substitutes for incompetency.

The big question now is, what have you done? All of your reps/senators have e-mail, and most folks in Congress and in the State Legislatures are very responsive when it comes to corresponding with constituents. E-mail is the new method of communicating and getting things done.
