Subject From the article, they are teaching religion and science

It's not clear who is making the "objection".

From the article: "At Liberty University, in biology classes students are taught both creationism and evolution and that creationism offers a better explanation of biological diversity than evolution."

We were taught a lot of bullshit in school, from kindergarten to grad school. It's up to the student to decide what is relevant. That's what education is all about.

For example, James was "pragmatically" wrong about the squirrel and the tree. The correct answer is that the person and the squirrel are both going around a common center ... the tree.

There's no way to prove Spinoza's theory that God and the Universe are one and the same ... very "new age" on his part. Were God and the Universe one and the same, how could one have created the other?

A lot of Kant's "Moral Philosophy" is pure speculation leading to different interpretations. For example, "Act only according to that maxim by which you can at the same time will that it should become a universal law." leaves a lot of room for disagreement, and would most assuredly cause heated political discussion in this day and age.

"Sociology" is mostly useless bullshit, IMO. Can you really stop a riot by preventing a "breakdown in norms"? If "compliance breeds hostility", why aren't citizens revolting against government at all levels?

Everyone has their own belief system and interpretation of what is relevant. We have folks on the board who believe in gods and goddesses (but who object to anyone believing in God) ... how rational is that?

I could raise a case for objecting to using taxpayer money to support any education ... especially public education ... given that I paid a shit load of money for private school education for myself and my kids, and was forced to pay for the public education of everyone else at the same time ... but I won't, because I believe in education, I support public and private educational institutions, and I don't want to see us becoming a nation of dumbasses ... like we are becoming ... and it's not Christian doctrine that is causing us to rank 15th to 24th in Math, Science and Reading among civilized nations ... it's governmental incompetence administering the educational system.

The $445 million in government funds attributed to Liberty University included $385.9 million in student loans. The rest came in the form of grants and other student aid like work-study. No specifics were given regarding the grants ... could have been legal research, engineering projects, etc. Student loans must be repaid by the individual students regardless of institution attended.

I think there is an amazing amount of fanatical and intolerant prejudice against religion on this board, especially Christianity, to the point that some folks can't really address the pertinent issues in a coherent manner.

Liberty University is turning out students who are educated in many different fields, and "Young Earth Theory" is not going to make them any better or worse when it comes to Accounting, Nursing, and other occupations.

While neither you nor I would consider attending Liberty University or 99% of any of the other educational institutions in the world, there are 60,000 students to whom the curriculum of Liberty University is relevant, and who am I or anyone else here to deny them the opportunity to pursue their destiny? And, who among us on this board is qualified to judge the constitutionality, or lack thereof, of federal funds being used at Liberty or Harvard or Notre Dame or Podunk U?
