... that just about every topic on religion and ethics has been beaten to death, that not one person here has been converted or swayed by all of the discussion and disagreement all these years over issues of religion, nor do I ever expect them so to be, and in the absence of any resolve thereto, perchance some, not all, folks present have become more concerned about the decline in ethics and morals of our country, the lack of leadership, the wild spending habits of our elected officials which are getting us nowhere, our flailing economy, and their own unsure future here on Earth ... and, yes, they could go bitch on some other political board ... but, they want to discuss these issues with the people that they know ... the people here? Yes, all of that was one question. :)

The hurling of insults resulting from political discussion are really no different than the shit and ridicule that some people here dish out to other folks here who profess Christianity ... so, what's the difference? Insults are insults.

Should the board be restricted to strict religion and ethics issues, and all other conversation banned? ... or do you let people talk about what's really on their minds?

It's kind'a like little Johnny at prayer meeting. The preacher is foaming at the mouth about "faith". "If you have faith, you can move mountains ... blah, blah, blah". After the prayer meeting, it's getting dark, and Johnny has to walk through the woods to get home, so he asks if he can walk along with the preacher, who agrees. Halfway through the woods, they encounter a Grizzly bear. The preacher, screaming "gar-dam! gar-dam!", runs like hell, with little Johnny following closely. When they get to the other side of the woods, they stop. Little Johnny asks, "Preacher, why did you run? I thought you said that if you have faith, you can handle any situation". The preacher said, Listen, Johnny, faith is good for prayer meeting ... but it ain't good for bear meeting". A strict diet of religion and ethics ain't gettin' it any more. There's the present world too.

If you are dissatisfied with political conversation here, perhaps you should start some esoteric post about theology, philosophy or ethics and let's see how it goes ... after all, nobody is stopping you from doing just that. Maybe some really interesting, fresh, new, inspiring, erudite, highest-common-denominator topics would serve to flush that gawd-awful, low brow, beneath-one's-dignity political chatter to the back pages. Respond to that latent categorical imperative lurking in your loins and mercifully lay upon the mundane laity of this wayward board magnificent words of wisdom such that we may receive the blessings thereof and be thankful therefor. World without end ... Amen.
