Takes maybe a little less space than a cloverleaf exchange, but requires a bit more engineering since more structures have to be elevated, whereas with a cloverleaf, the 270o ramps can be built on dirt mounds. Could also be a bit more confusing for the drivers, with hell to pay if you take a wrong turn, whereas the possibility of a wrong turn on a cloverleaf is less.

With a cloverleaf, failure to make an exit to the right can be recovered by looping the loop 3 times. If you miss your right exit in the pictured design, you have to go straight until you come to a place where you can turn around, and that might be hell in Shanghai with 24 million people. Even if you exit to the right, you still have another decision to make upon exiting, and a wrong choice could send you packing off 90o to the left.

All things considered, it is probably safer than a cloverleaf because it eliminates the merge problem with vehicles coming onto the straightaway dodging vehicles trying to take the following exit loop.
