Boredom is no excuse or reason to do what he does. His days of doing this may be numbered. He is a person of interest. As with so many things, all it takes is one jerk who can't and won't follow rules, to push authority above him to implement some change to stop the abuse.

Last week somebody finally spray painted graffiti all around Hanging Lake, on trees and rocks, everywhere. People here are outraged. Incensed. Hanging Lake is IMO the most beautiful alpine lake in the world. Nothing else like it anywhere. Was one of the Fifty Things about Colorado I featured. That was my quest to record these things before they're gone.

The Forest Service is considering closure of the lake indefinitely, while how to manage and preserve it is studied. People wading and swimming, children and pets all took a toll every year until last week when a graffiti painter put his retarded exclamation point on it.
