I'm curious as to the source of the info that Dorothy's father was Francis HOGGARTH born about 1724 in Hackness. All I can find is the parish transcript record for her marriage and the NBIv2 record of her burial. Is there some MI or Will?

1771
John Johnson and Dorothy Hoggarth both of this Parish were
married May 21
(Being "of this parish" just means they were there at the time of the wedding; not that they had been born there)
(This wedding is the only occurance of the name HOGGARTH in the Hackness Parish Record Transcript that I can find. Maybe there are some non-conformist records. )

Burial of Dorothy JOHNSON age 78 on 27 Aug 1826, Hackness, St Peter.
(So she would be born 1747/48)

Hackness is near Scarorough in North Yorks, if anyone was wondering. Perhaps a greater mystery is, who is our anonymous correspondent? ;) Rod

The church at Hackness has some plaques related to a family called JOHNSTONE. Are these connected to the JOHNSON who married Dorothy? Bryan
