Probably nothing very new here but we do not seem to have a Jigsaw entry for the Corbridge people and the trees showing on Ancestry appear to be no better than usual.

Guestbook entries by Patricia SAMSON nee HOGARTH

Comments: My dad was Foster Hogarth. He emigrated to Australia in 1920 with his mother, his sister Annie and her de facto partner Robert Patterson. Dad was born at Anfield Plain, near Durham, in 1910. I understand his father, Reginald, abandoned the family after WWI, when he returned to find Ethel having an affair with Robert Patterson. I would dearly love to hear from anyone related to Reginald Hogarth.

Frederick Hogarth married Ethel Graham (my dad's parents) in 1907 at Durham. I am looking for members of Frederick's family and would love to hear from anyone with information.

They had a son Foster (my dad) and a daughter Annie.

Daddy died in Melbourne on 5 October 1983.

Also, we have found my grandfather Frederick Hogarth. Frederick was in the Navy during WWI. He immigrated to Canada in 1917 and died in Canada in 1925. I would love to hear from anyone related to Frederick. He married Ethel Graham. His father was John Hogarth from Annfield Plain, Durham. "

Sounds familiar - I seem to remember taking some time to show the name was Frederick not Reginald.

Seems odd to leave the Navy durinng a war - sounds like desertion to me.

Likely birth; Thomas HOGARTH born 9 Jun 1804, baptised 19 Aug 1804 to Thomas HOGARTH and Elizabeth SMITH, Corbridge, NBL, batch P00131-1.

Ancestry has this family, appears to be reasonably well covered, in a Tree called "Neville Hogarth's Familt Tree" by user "nevillehogarth1". However that tree has Pearson HOGARTH as the son of Thomas HOGARTH and Mary WAILES who he is supposed to have married in 1847 so, as with lots of trees on Ancestry one has to be suspicious.
