I SO don't wanna get into a flamewar, but anyone who develops for Android is a FOOL.
Have you seen iOS's numbers lately? And with Android, there's no "App Store", as such. Talk to any Android dev. Watch the look on thier face when you ask them about updates that depend on whatever certain Android device. Watch the look on thier face when you ask them how simple it is for someone to actually find & buy an Android app they're looking for. Watch the look on thier face when you ask them how they actually get *paid* for selling an Android app.
OK -- sure: the iOS SDK's $99 and -- for the time being -- Mac only. And Apple gets a 30% cut of all sales. But isn't that a SMALL price to pay to be part of something that is, literally, transforming overnight the way software's bought & sold? The App Store is becoming the new model, just like the way iTunes is now tne #1 seller of music IN THE WORLD.
In your piechart, it shows iOs has 17% of the market. For discussion's sake, let's make that an even 20%. 20% of the market -- and set for explosive growth this year with Verizon now on board and the hiighly anticipated iPhone 5 -- and yet there are more than 300,000 apps available with downloads totaling over 10 BILLION. Why do you think that is? The Android Marketplace -- or whatever it's called -- doesn't even come *close* .... Why do you think there are developers who are seriously considering going iOS *only* -- completely forsaking computers & consoles?
Lastly, titleslike "MYST", "The 7th Guest" & other classic Golden Age games are being gobbled up by iOS shoppers, so thier is *definately* a more than receptive audience for "Mercenary", "Damocles" & "The Dion Crisis".
So yes, the MDD Clone should *absolutely* be made for iOS. I'm envisioning those minimilastically beautiful flatshade polygons gliding like buttered silk across my the screen of my iPad as I type this! lol
Any choice besides iOS & you'll just be setting yourself up for let down & disappointment.
