With file formats published it would be even possible to introduce randomization of the Mercenary content so that the games would not be all the same each time. And if more stuff will be outsourced from the game engine (like game texts, object properties, location of buildings, transportation schedule etc.) the endless possibilities would emerge. Perhaps with a good game engine capable of supporting some new features (like "Targ-like" labirynths under "Gamma-like" planets, more star systems, boats, moving ai agents etc.) it would be possible to create a Mercenary IV. Reviving existing Mercenary parts with some arcade features would also be great to have (e.g. some combat in labirynths, vehicle crashes on grass, loss of stearing without a proper spacesuit, counting "escapes" as available lives).

        Is this not something you would like to try documenting yourself? It could be a laugh. I'm quite busy with a large project of my own at the moment so its not something I would get to any time soon.... more
