Well, I'll make my own flower, then.

With the Accepted's permission, Moira took a stool close to the front of the group, glancing with wide eyes at the novices who had been so silly as to get Accepted Medaea mad at them. Who would want to spoil such a perfect day with silliness and getting other people upset? They must have done something terrible; the Accepted was such a nice person, in Moira's opinion, and they certainly must have done something deserving of Accepted Medaea's ire. Arranging her skirts, she listened attentively, the model of a perfect novice: bright and eager to please. And, certainly, she agreed with Accepted Medaea's description of the garden as a miracle, joining with her fellow novices in wondering exactly why such a beautiful garden would be a blessing of the Light.

Oh! Smiling at the memories of tending these roses' cousins in the East Gardens, Moira offered her opinion. "But even the best gardener has weeds and blight on their plants sometimes." While she didn't count herself close to the best, she'd developed what she hoped might turn out to be a nice green thumb; her roses thrived, although the gardeners that she'd befriended were certainly a help when it came to offering kind advice.

She'd gotten the right answer! Full of pride in her accomplishments - See? See? Moira Ivon knew things. She was no idiot! - the novice settled back into her stool, eyes bright with happiness as she listened to Accepted Medaea explain what the first part of this lesson was going to be about.

Oh, we're helping the gardens grow! she thought excitedly. I wonder if I could use this during gardening...? Folding her hands in her lap, Moira leaned forwards slightly, eyes narrowing as she carefully studied the weaves that the Accepted wove before the gathered class. It didn't look too difficult, seeing as how Moira was familiar with a net-like pattern from putting together her father's swing-net that he'd hung in the back of their little house where he took his naps for his birthday one year. What would cause difficulty was the unfortunate presence of Earth: that was the Power in which Moira was the weakest, although she was more than determined to succeed in this.

At the Accepted's command, she snatched her stool and rushed towards a rosebush that, to her experienced eye, already looked particularly healthy. With a glance at some other novice who'd thought to steal the rosebush (wasn't her name Shilly or something equally... funny?), Moira settled her stool in front of the bush, careful to make sure that it would support her weight rather than dumping her head over heels. Taking her own seat, she... opened herself to saidar, joyfully letting the rosebud inside of her unfurl to the light that was the One Power, surrendering as the flower opened to the Source petal by petal. Reopening her eyes and laying her hands palm down on her lap, Moira took Water and Spirit, two of her strongest three Powers, and coaxed them beneath the ground as Accepted Medaea had. Her fingers twitched slightly as she concentrated on seeing the threads through the ground, carefully weaving Water and Spirit into the simple, pretty design that was almost an exact, if slightly sloppy, duplicate of the Mayener Accepted's weave.

Then it was time for the Earth. Moira's brows furrowed, fingers twitching as she reached for the sandy brown thread that she could barely make out, barely touch as she shuffled through the Powers that made up saidar. But finally, her mental grip closed around a slender thread of Earth that she forced into a new grid similar to the one she'd woven of Spirit and Water. The final product was shaky; she quickly reinforced it with the threads she was much better with, and she felt the ground greedily consume the Powers as, with her waking eyes, she watched the roses bloom before her.

They're yellow. The novice smiled, pleased with herself. I did it! Even with Earth! It wasn't very often that Moira indulged in pride, and even she felt like she deserved it today. Studying the flowers she'd coaxed into opening (even thought not all of them had opened fully, seeing as how her grasp on Earth still wasn't very strong), her gaze landed on one that she'd persuaded to become particularly beautiful. Her eyes light up and she leaned forwards, allowing her fingers to drift gently over the petals before moving down to break the stem off a little ways down, careful to remove the thorns as her feet carried her towards Accepted Medaea.

"Accepted," she said, bowing her head slightly as she offered a curtsy that was only a little less clumsy than the day she'd arrived at the White Tower. "Do you think you'd weave a Keeping on this one for me, please?" She offered the rose to Accepted Medaea, glowing with pride at what she had done. Moira had kept her promise to herself: she'd succeeded!
