An Unlikely Bout of Tardiness

Kareen found herself late for her channeling lesson, and mentally kicked herself. She had told herself she would not be late for any of her lessons, and here she was, later than one would normally be expected.

Kareen looked at the Accepted before her and made a bow-she would not change that part of her background and replace it with a curtsy-before stating her apologies.

"Forgive my lateness, Accepted." Kareen gave no excuse, she had none. Instead she slipped in next to the other Novices. She was just in time to give her name to the Accepted. Unfortunately, she had to be given the instruction about what she was to tell the Accepted again because of her tardiness.

Kareen began reciting the wanted information as the Accepted wrote down her name on a piece of parchment. "I am Kareen din Yokiri Wave Singer of Clan Takana and Wavebreaker. I am of the Atha'an Miere." This statement was purely courtesy, as anyone could see where she originated by her darkly bronzed skin and the honor chain that dangled across her left cheek.

Kareen hoped that was enough information to satisfy the Accepted, she was not entirely sure how much she was supposed to elaborate on the Atha'an Miere. Instead of worrying more, Kareen continued, "I have been in the Tower around three weeks now, and I have never juggled before in my life, Accepted."

She finished with the honorific and hoped the Accepted was not angry with her brief introduction on top of her tardiness. Instead of letting herself look ashamed however, Kareen pushed her streaked hair behind her ears and stare her green eyes at the Accepted before her.

Kareen managed to suppress the excitement that had wormed it's way inside her. She would be leaving the Tower! The thought was slightly dampened by the idea that she would have to channel, but she tried her best to quash that idea and focus more on being outside the Tower Grounds for the first time since arriving. Upon her arrival here, she hadn't had much time to look about Tar Valon. Maybe today would be her chance.
