Adem watched the Accepted played with their weaves. Though he couldn't see Accepted Medaea's threads, he imagined they looked identical to Accepted Alain's. Except, it occured to him, why should they look the same? What little Adem had learned of saidar spoke of DRASTIC differences, a sort of surrender that, if he tried it with saidin would burn him to ash. Shaking his head, he turned back to Justyn. "Do you want to do the water-spout? I'm HOPELESS with Water." A little bit of trial an error followed, since Accepted Alain hadn't actually shown the men how to do the weave Accepted Medaea had shown the girls.

Finally, Justyn managed to almost duplicate what Accepted Medaea had done. He set the spout into motion, and Adem smacked it back with the weave he'd prepared moments before. They batted the spout back and forth, faster and faster, until the pattern became second nature.

"You're going to drop it!" Adem shouted suddenly, pointing to a random corner of the room. Justyn took the bait, turning to follow Adem's finger, and Adem took that opportunity to hit the weave in a different direction. Justyn brought his version of the weave up, but misjudged the direction of the spout, and ended up with a face full of water. Adem burst into fits of laughter, watching his friend drip onto the classroom floor. His mirth soon turned into dismay, however, because Justyn duplicated the Waterspout weave several inches above Adem's head. From there, they quickly descended into spraying each other with smaller spouts.

Abruptly, Adem released saidin, suddenly recalling where he was, and what he was doing there. Another blast of water took him full in the face, before Justyn, too, remembered himself. They both turned with trepidation to look at the Accepted standing at the front of the class, wondering just how much trouble they both had just gotten themselves into.
