Anger, Fear, and Panic
Sat Sep 9, 2006 07:57 (XFF:

Dempsey felt assuredly and soundly shocked. They had actually burned his clothes. They were nothing but ashes, despite his protests, despite his demands. They had burned his clothes. The foul Accepted girl offered him the ashes of his clothing, suspended miraculously in the air, and Dempsey had to work very hard not to slap the girl. "How…you…they…I…why…cousin…Taborwin…damn…Light!" Dempsey said breathlessly, gasping out each syllable as he stared at the ashes. "My clothes!!" Dempsey screamed, collapsing to his knees. Like a child he bawled, not only at the loss of his clothes. For the first time in his life, he had demanded, with all his power, for something not to happen. And it had. The feeling was so foreign, so crushing, that he was overwhelmed by it. He glared up at Sonja between his tears. "I hate you, I HATE you!" Dempsey wailed at her.

Taking deep shuddering breaths, he stood. He seemed to regain his composure for a split second, and then his small hand slapped soundly across the Accepted's face. "Accepted or not, I shall have your head for this!" Dempsey said angrily. He let out a small grunt of surprise as he was suddenly suspended in the air, much like the ashes nearby. He let out an indignant squawk as the sensation of a returned slap smote him across his face. He spit and yelled, struggling at his invisible bonds, to no avail. "Let me go this instant!" He hollered, his cries echoing off of the burning room walls.

The girl regarded him coldly, and Dempsey suddenly wished that Madeline were there instead. His quickened breathing went from anger to fear, and then panic, as he suddenly realized he had made a very serious error in judgment. "Please let me down," he said, his high pitched voice sad and pathetic. "Please?" he asked again, before the tears overwhelmed his words and he sobbed in earnest, hung up like a piece of clothing on a line.

OOC: Haha, do what you would like with this ;-)!
