Afailla had spent days helping the rest of the Soldiers and Dedicated ready the grounds for the Festival. They had all had to pitch in – cleaning up, decorating, cleaning, and even cooking. She couldn’t help feeling a bit proud of what their efforts had accomplished – the Black Tower looked magnificent, the food was delicious, and the occasional explosion of color in the sky seemed to wow the onlookers. She’d had a part in it – granted, a very small part, but she had contributed some.

The entire Tower had been excused from lessons for nearly a week, though they had still had to accomplish everything with the Power. It wasn’t like they were getting off easy – in fact, decorating was a lot more difficult than the usual lessons. But finally, the day was here – it was time to celebrate. Afailla was dressed as usual in her blacks, but in honor of the occasion, she had decided to let her hair down. Literally. Her long red hair was brushed free of its usual tangles and allowed to hang free. She may not be allowed to dress like an individual in the Tower – something that didn’t much please her – but her hair was definitely something that couldn’t be duplicated. Well, not without using the Power, but that was besides the point.

Excited about the prospect of seeing her sister tonight, Afailla left her small room and headed out to the Green, where the Festival was set to take place. A day of rest and relaxation definitely seemed like what she needed.

She hadn’t been wandering among the steadily-growing crowd for very long before a tap on her shoulder caught her attention. She turned around, and sure enough, it was Tsuga. In a dress, no less. She stood in shock for several beats, unable to comprehend that her masculine sister was wearing, of all things, a dress. And a nice one. She actually looked . . . girly.

Tsuga shifted uncomfortably under her sister’s scrutiny, finally unable to stand the staring any more. “Oh come on, it’s not like I’m dangling a bloody head or anything. It’s the only decent thing I had left.” Afailla shook her head, stammering a bit.

“Um, o-okay, I guess. Uh, good to see you. How’ve you been?” She was still in shock, but the paralysis was beginning to fade and she was able to think a little now. Tsuga shook her head, obviously disgusted, but seemed willing to ignore the awkwardness.

“I’m fine. Come here, someone wants to meet you.” Afailla blinked in surprise, but allowed herself to be pulled back through the crowd. Her first thought was that her little sister had a lover boy, but this idea was promptly dashed when Tsuga stopped by someone in a colorful gown with a ring marking her as a member of the White Tower. And a little girl that couldn’t have been a Novice, even if she was dressed like one. Tsuga promptly made introductions, and then the little girl began chattering away. Afailla blinked in stunned surprise, looking from Tsuga to Sonja, and then at the kid.

“Hi there. How do you know my sister?” Tsuga shrugged, shaking her head. “We just kind of ran into each other. But the kid wanted to meet an Asha’Man, and I told her she could meet you, since you’re . . . training to be one.”

Afailla shook her head and smiled slightly, wondering if perhaps Tsuga had a soft spot for children that she didn’t like to admit to. After all, it wasn’t exactly something that a fighter would want to brag about, now was it? “Well, okay then, I guess. But why do you want to meet an Asha’Man so badly?”

OOC: I'm ashamed at how bad these are, but my brain's kinda fried. Heh. And it's probably a good things you won't be on then - I'm going to be swamped Friday and Saturday, so at least I won't have to worry about not posting, heh!
