Afailla could understand in theory why they were supposed to learn some basic weaponry. If they were shielded, hey would still need to be able to defend herself. Sure, it all made sense in theory. But why did she have to go? She forced herself to stifle a sigh as she attempted to make her drab uniform look less . . . black. Not that it made any difference. No matter what she tried to do (they weren’t allowed to wear anything besides black, unfortunately), she couldn’t help the stark contrast between her pale skin and dark clothes.

Shaking her head, the Soldier twisted her hair into a severe-looking bun, pulling it back from her face and lashing it impatiently with a leather thong. It bobbed and seemed almost ready to come down, but she knew from experience that it would hold through (almost) anything. Lastly, she pulled on her boots (also black) and stomped in them until they settled comfortably. Satisfied that this was as good as her appearance was going to get, she strode to the door and let herself out, not quite sure what to expect.

When she arrived at the Black Tower’s training grounds, she saw a small crowd gathering, and joined the small clump of black-clad Soldiers. There were two other clumps, which she recognized from the clothing and the disdainful expressions as White Tower initiates, and White Tower Trainees. Before she had much more time to notice anything, the Dedicated in front of the group began speaking.

After being mildly insulted, the group was told to introduce themselves, but when the Dedicated gestured to the person he wanted to begin, Afailla sensed more than heard a collective gasp and saw some of the White Tower’s members shrink away visibly, as did no few of the Black Tower’s pupils. But after a few moments, the boy that was to begin regained his composure, and before long Afailla’s turn had come around. It was hard to see or be seen, standing in the middle of the pack as she was, but the shorter woman was able to make her voice carry, even if all anyone was likely seeing of her was her red hair.

“Soldier, Afailla Dafrin. No prior experience.” There really wasn’t much else to say, so she left it at that and turned her attention to the next person in line, listening absently to the introductions. When the group of Gaidin trainees came up, she listened intently for her sister’s name, but didn’t hear it. And why should she? Tsuga no doubt had access to these types of lessons almost daily, as weaponry was her main focus. Stifling her disappointment, Afailla waited for everyone to finish, ready to see what the lesson held in store for them all.

OOC: I would post Tsuga, but I’m so swamped that I was lucky to even fit Afailla in. So unfortunately, she won’t be putting in an appearance this time. :( Sorry. But if I can, and it's still open, I may be able to bring her in later, in which case you'll just have to ignore that comment. Hehe.
