Kandra stood there for a moment as the crowd dispersed. He knew that this would not be a pleasant experience; Spirit, Air and Water were his weakest elements. The weave that used Fire, the killing weave, was much easier to do. That was why he was a Spy, not a Healer.

He moved over to a cot where the man lying in it looked to be fairly healthy. Kandra knew he would not be able to Heal very much, but even the smallest bit of Healing could help, which was why he had decided to take this lesson. The man seemed to be unconscious, which was good. Kandra didn’t want the man awake for this, the shock of Healing was tough when it was done once, and to be done countless times might be too much.

Kandra seized saidin . The sweet essence that flowed through him. His senses came alive. Someone in the room was wearing perfume, probably the Aes Sedai. From what he had learned, most of them liked to smell nice. It wouldn’t be one of the female Soldiers, they tried to fit in with the men, and that meant no perfume.

Kandra weaved the complex rug that was Delving. He had a pretty good grasp on the weave, but as Asha’man Gentry had said, it was incredibly easy next to Healing. Settling the Weave on the man, Kandra found that the man was, as he suspected, only slightly hurt. A small enough bruise on the right side of his head, which was what had caused him to collapse. Kandra looked over his shoulder, and saw Asha’man Gentry watching him. He was going to have to make his attempts good.

Channeling Spirit, Air and Water, he started the complex weave that was Healing. It was one of the most complex things he had ever done. He had to concentrate all his efforts just to keep it from falling apart. As he prepared to settle the weave on the man, Asha’man Gentry’s voice rang out from nearby: “Remember, you must keep your concentration no matter what, your comrades lives may depend on it.”

The weave fell apart. Kandra spun around, only to see Gentry walking off Directing a glare at the retreating back of the man, Kandra turned back to his subject. He stifled an impulse to bang the side of the cot. Small chance he would be able to do anything with his small Healing ability. Curse the man, he had no right to do that!

Seizing saidin again, which he hadn’t realized he had let go in his anger, he started to from the Healing weave again. This time, when he settled it on the man, Gentry wasn’t there to interrupt him. The unconscious man convulsed for a second, then settled back. The swelling around his head was reduced quite a bit. Kandra was satisfied with his work. It was the best he could do with what little talent he had in the subject.
