Zander watched the last of the Soldiers, a hawk-nosed Saldean man, finish the Delving exercise after a fair few attempts and glanced towards the teachers of this lesson. They were conferring silently, but after a few moments a decision had been reached. The Aes Sedai began to speak, and once more Zander's attention phased in and out of the lesson. Instead of listening intently like most of the greener Soldiers were doing, Zander began to go through the various situations that he would use his new-found talents. It would probably be useless to Zander on the battlefield, as his 'skills' meant that he probably wouldn't be on a battlefield until the Last Battle occurred.

He caught the occasional few words from the still-lecturing Aes Sedai, and decided that what she was saying wasn't that important yet. His eyes wandered over the group, and then he noticed that the Asha'man was performing a weave for the men. It seemed to consist of many fine lines of fire, spirit and earth, with two thickly weaved strands of spirit that formed a double-barrier around the whole of the weave. Zander thought he could probably weave it after a few practises, but he carefully watched the man weave it again to make sure he had correctly memorized it and tucked it away in his mind.

And then the group were trooping around the Infirmary, and people were called forward to heal the 'wounded', which seemed to consist of people with bruises that Zander would have just shrugged off. As they walked, Zander practised the weave constantly. He began by weaving the outer barrier, so that if he got some of the inner-weave wrong it wouldn't just fragment and drift away, but would stay there for him to correct it. It was an intricate weave to say the least. It took much careful weaving, and then re-weaving of hair-thin strands of spirit wrapped in fire and the re-wrapped in earth, all then twisted in complex double-helix's and curved loops that bisected each other. When he was finally finished, he was quite proud of himself.

And then he was called forward to heal a pretty little slip of a girl, with luxuriously curled tresses of mahogany hair. He Delved into her, and discovered that there were several small cuts and burns on her forearms, and some light bruising on the skull. Most of her problem was the dizziness that affected people after blows to the head. He shrugged, smiled and laid the healing weave into her. Zander was strong in Spirit, and indeed it was his strongest elements. He found it easy to cure her of her ails. He smiled as she thanked him and walked out smoothly and confidently. He turned and walked back into the crowd of pupils, happy that he had got it right first time and not been made to look like an idiot.
