Ronan was absent from the Tower. It was one of those rare, blissful moments where Lysander could step freely about the cobbled roads and beaten paths without bearing the burden of spying the woman. It was wholly welcome. Mind, a thousand absences of the former M’Hael meant nothing as far as getting control of the Assassins, though the smile that curved across his face was genuine in its fullest. He was free.

She’s on a dangerous mission, too. Jiroh’s Wells. Lysander was happier even yet when it was a dangerous mission to occupy the woman’s presence. He didn’t cozen himself enough to truly become attached to the possibility of her demise in the line of action, and still . . . still, it could not be forgotten.

It was early afternoon, and Lysander had just returned from Tear with the Dragon Reborn’s newly appointed
steward. The sharpness of Darlin Sisnera could not be doubted, and Lysander would not have questioned the fellow’s appointment short of one small, glaring fact. He had opposed the Dragon Reborn. He had opposed Rand al’Thor. It was fascinating, truly, that the Dragon Reborn could invest such faith in a person who had turned tail and fled, and Lysander suspected weightily there was more to the story than what he’d been told.

Tear’s bright sun and sonorous heat provided sharp contrasted upon his Skimmed return to the Black Tower. Though today fared far better than yesterday, it still could not be denied that autumn was waging its slow war against the Tower, against Andor. Lysander would not trade the seasons for all the sunshine that could fill the Blight. He truly pitied Tairens; to look outside and see the same yellow glare each morning would wear on the patience.

Still, in spite of his finished ambassadorial mission for the day, Lysander was not finished. Not nearly. He’d squared off the next hour-or-so to teach a lesson. It was a rare treat, though Lysander knew that, as a leader, he could not distance himself from his own recruits. He would play an assertive if not constant role in their training. These were the Asha’man of tomorrow. He wondered if the young man whom he’d assigned himself–Darius al’Ceer–would become an Asha’man. Likely Darius didn’t wonder. Lysander, like most Soldiers, had been foolish enough to know they’d acquire both pins. Foolish indeed. There was no knowing. There was never any knowing.

Not long later, Lysander entered the West Classrooms. It was here that he’d studied under Ronan in mastering the techniques of an assassin. The room was large, with various wicked-looking weapons hanging solitarily on the walls. There was a weighty oaken desk at the front for the instructor, and various seats were spread neatly across the room. In essence, it looked just like a regular classroom. In essence, it was.

Soon after, Darius entered; so the young man had been properly informed of the lesson, then. Lysander eyed him up. He certainly didn’t appear especially intimidating, though few Soldiers did. He’d already been outfitted, it seemed, and was wearing the black coat of a Soldier that fit him just fine. His build was nothing special, yet special things were rarely kept in special packages. Was Lysander, for his modest height and narrow frame, any indication? His head had been freshly shaved for Darlin, and so he wore not his usual dark stubble. Grey eyes and his olive complexion completed him.

“Good day, recruit,” Lysander murmured. “I am M’Hael Lysander T’hoth of the Black Tower. Pick a seat. I will be teaching you your first lesson on the subject of becoming a Soldier. It will not be your last.”

Once Darius was seated and Lysander was standing comfortably behind the desk–he had no desire to seat himself–he could begin. “You, as I have mentioned, are a Soldier. You are the first step to becoming a full-fledged member of the Black Tower. After several months, you will become a Dedicated, and from there an Asha’man. You will earn pins to denote your rank. Your training will focus evenly on how to use the True Source solely for combative purposes and how to use various weapons. This training will be more difficult than likely any you’ve witnessed in your life, pushing you to the brink of human endurance. It is not for the weak.

“Now, before we go any further, introduce yourself. I know much of your information already, though repeat your name, your city and country of origin, and whether or not you’ve ever touched the True Source–that is, if you’ve ever seized saidin, the part of the Power men use.”

OOC: Welcome to your first lesson! I’d like 300 words minimum describing your character’s arrival to the lesson and answering Lysander’s request for information. Be sure to pepper some description of your character into the post, though. *grins* Good luck!
