Direct oil SN60?
Fri Mar 18, 2011 09:36

Picked up an SN60 that appears to be converted to a direct oil setup. Why I'm not sure. I'd obviously like to have it rebuilt as it appears its been sitting for years.

I read here it would be costly to return to oil contained setup.

Are there any ways to increase longevity on a DO unit to deter problems with condensation and engine acids? Possibly a quality remote oil filter setup specifically for the blower? Also, which engine oil would work best? Using 30w rotella now for the zinc.

The blower is going on a mild straight 8 buick, so it will not see high rpm, nor many track passes, but will be driven alot!

Some DO conversions are really just oil cooler systems or draw through setups. Most or these setups can be salvaged depending on who did what. You can call me at 775 883 6494 8 am to 8 pm pacific... more
