I've had 2 Avantis and both had seals like the ones you describe factory installed. The fact that it is there makes me doubt that John rebuilt it. I doubt he would use a Paxton seal as that could be misleading and he is not that kind of guy. He will probably post.

          Craig Connley at Paradis Wheels http://www.paradisewheelsinc.com/ bought up the rights and many of the parts from Paxton. He may be able to shed some light on the seals.
