Deportation of my gdfather Maurice Stephan at Gleiwitz III..
Tue Oct 7, 2008 18:53 (XFF:

Hello, my name is Lucas Chauviere , i m from france , i just read a article on your site that makes me send you this email.

My grandfather Maurice STEPHAN was deported during the second world war II in Gliwice ( gleiwitz ), kept prisoner , he was forced to work for the ex german reich in a workcamp , steelwork , making ammunitions, bombs etc ..

I think this workcamp was called "Gleiwitz III" after my investigation seemed to be on Robotnicza 4, Gliwice. He allways said the fabric was called " Stahlbau handler" " sohne gleiwitz " ; 609 prisoners seem to have work in it from may1944 till Jan 1945 , when the russian troops where arriving from east, everybody was sent on the roads, and they walked till Walbrzych , most of them died there , i have a map of the exact road they did walking in the snow. .
My grand father had the luck and stengh to survive all this , but i could never really ask him about all this time in Gleiwitz.
I d like to know if someone there in your town could give me any information/pictures , anything relative to this workcamp Gleiwitz III between 1944 and 1945 . anything that could help me in my investigations .. a good friend of mine is polish and could easilly translate documents in polish .

If you can help me in any way, i hope so and thank you

Thank you . Lucas.
