My dad was repatriated from Stalag VlllB in October 1943 . He was sent by train to the northern coast of Germany [ I imagine] then by boat to Sweden and then landing in Liverpool on October 25, 1943. He was carried off of the Red Cross ship The Atlantis on a stretcher. He had been wounded in the right leg below the knee at Puys , France . His leg was later amputated at the knee in Canada on his return .There is some great newsreel film of this landing by British Pathe. Film ID 1887.07 , UN922B.etc. I found his image on several pieces of film . One of him in a train afterwards with some other returning soldiers also.
