Section Wide RP: Podian

Jield’s eyes surveyed the campsite and as he looked over those doing their tasks he nodded in satisfaction; everything was going right to plan so far. They were currently in Kandor, camping a mile away from a town called Podian, where the Aes Sedai had business they were presently attending to. They had had a pleasing few days – it had been three nights since they had left the White Tower and everyone seemed to adapt to the life of the camp fairly easily. The workload was shared by all, except the Aes Sedai of course, and the change of scenery seemed to be agreeing with everyone. Jield had forgotten how long it had been since he had left Tar Valon – excluding testing his trainees of course – and to go somewhere such as the Borderlands pleased him greatly.

He looked across to the other side of camp and watched as the group of Aethan’Tar practiced their sparring under the watchful eyes of Enriana Gaidar and Xanathic Gaidin, who were giving instructions to those who needed it. Most Aethan’Tar had seemed to flourish in the last few days, and indeed Jield was greatly pleased with their progress. He was worried that they would find their tasks the most boring, but that didn’t seem to be the case. When they had set up camp on the first night each Aethan’Tar had been asked to choose another Aethan’Tar as a partner with whom they would share their tent with at night. Deciding it would make life easier, Jield had told them that the sexes would be separated. Everyone had to set up their own tent in the evenings and dismantle it in the mornings, so the partners helped each other with the task.

Then, during the day, the Aethan’Tar continued on with their training and did chores throughout the campsite along with others. There was wood to be chopped, water to be gathered, food to be gathered and hunted and then finally cooked. The tasks involving the food seemed to be the one most of them enjoyed above any others; maybe it was because they were not used to the idea of getting their own food and cooking it themselves. Jield had no doubt that after a time they would be eager to return to the dining hall of the Training Grounds where the cooked food was just handed to them. When they were close to town they were also given some free time to enter into the town and explore, on the condition that they remained on their best behaviour and consumed no drink. Jield didn’t want a drunken lot of his trainees giving the Training Grounds a bad name.

The Sei’Tar was doing very different things to the Aethan’Tar. When they were present in camp they trained and continued on with chores as the Aethan’Tar did, but not at all times. At the beginning of the expedition, when the Aethan’Tar had chosen their partners, Sei’Tar had been assigned to Aes Sedai who had used a weave that had temporarily bonded them. Many of the Sei’Tar had been shocked then, to find that they’d spend the entire expedition in bond emulation with an Aes Sedai, but Jield knew that it would be a fantastic way to test how ready they were to be raised. Their first duty throughout the entire time was to act as a Warder to the Aes Sedai – so they would be going into towns with the Aes Sedai like the Gaidin did – and only after they had completed those duties for the day and the Aes Sedai dismissed them for a few hours (they slept in tents next to those of an Aes Sedai with any other Warders they had) were they meant to help with the daily jobs needed to keep the camp running smoothly. They still had to set up their own tents, and those of their Aes Sedai too.

The Gaidin had a similar time to the Sei’Tar, spending more time with the Aes Sedai especially those already Warders. Not all Gaidin were required with the Aes Sedai at any one time, so they had worked out a sort of roster so that they all had equal time spent with the Aes Sedai and at camp doing the work required there and supervising those Aethan’Tar and Sei’Tar who were also doing the work, Jield included. All in all, most seemed very happy with what they were doing if only for the fact that they were out of the White Tower for a time.

...

“Jield Gaidin!” Jield looked across to a Sei’Tar who came running across to him, the rising sun that was noting the end of the fourth night streaming behind his back. The Head Gaidin noted the alarm in the man’s voice and immediately dropped his scouring pad and pan to find out what was the source of his worry.

“What is it, Eorik?”

“Enala Sedai sent me––” Enala Sedai was the Aes Sedai that he had been assigned to “––to tell you. The Aes Sedai have heard the bells of Podian ringing; they think that they’re under attack!”

“Thank you, Eorik, return to Enala and tell her I’ll send a scouting party off immediately,” Jield said calmly, his mind quickly working to calculate everything that they would need, “and in the meantime I suggest you warn everyone that you meet on the way – Aethan’Tar, Sei’Tar, Gaidin and Aes Sedai – to prepare for battle as best they can. They’ve been using practice weapons, but I know all the Sei’Tar and Gaidin have their own weapons, and we’ve bought enough to stock the Aethan’Tar too. Can you organize someone – a Gaidin who can be spared from the Aes Sedai – to supervise that? Thank you.”

Eorik took off and Jield didn’t give him a second thought, quickly moving through the camp and grabbing the attention of two chosen Gaidin and one Gaidar, telling them the situation and immediately having them mount their horses and ride off towards Podian with instructions to remain hidden at any cost.

While they were gone, Jield did what he had asked Eorik to do, moving through the camp and telling everyone that the possibility of a battle was upon them and that they would have to prepare themselves. It was not ideal, but the Sei’Tar and the Aethan’Tar would have to fight alongside the Aes Sedai and Gaidin. The Aethan’Tar were told to strictly stick in their pairings, and to look out for each other, and unbeknownst to them a Gaidin was asked to keep an eye out after each pair and come to their rescue if they needed it. Including Jield, there were enough Gaidin that could keep an eye on each Aethan’Tar so that was a worry reduced. The Sei’Tar were told to act as Warders and protect their Aes Sedai at all costs, and to fight where they fought and follow their orders. And the Gaidin who were not bonded and not watching Aethan’Tar were left to their own devices – Jield trusted them to protect Aes Sedai if the needed it.

“Jield!” one of the Gaidin in the scouting party said on their return, “It’s Trollocs. They’ve surrounded the walls of Podian and are converging on the closed gates, trying to shut through. They didn’t see us at all, but I think that there is at least one fist, if not two. The people of Podian are used to Trolloc raids, but I think that they need our help; the Trollocs picked an opportune time to attack, for if the gates shut then many of the citizens will be slaughtered in the streets before they can manage to hold them off at all.”

A cut nod from Jield and the scouting party were off to prepare. For the next few minutes Jield supervised all preparations until he was sure everyone was ready. When they were ready they all mounted their horses and waited for the rest of the group. Jield led them on Thistle, trying to keep the horses as quiet as possible. When they were about half a mile away from Podian he had everyone dismount and tie their horses up, leaving them with enough food that they’d be quiet. On foot, everyone gathered around him and he issued a few instructions.

“For many of you, this will be your first battle so I don’t want you going in with any dreams of glory. Many of you are inexperienced and do not know just how hard it is to fell a Trolloc, so I urge caution. You all know your duties, and I expect you to stay with your different partners if you have them. The people of Podian need our help, so let us represent the White Tower to the best of our ability.”

With that they took off, to move straight into the mass of Trollocs and meet them in battle.

OOC: On time, as promised! Well, this should be exciting, don’t you think? A few general notes before we get into the specific stuff. Latecomers are welcome up until the very end of this, but you won’t get any credits unless you type the required word amount. Your introduction posts counts towards your word count. The entire role-play finishes on the 31st of December; that’s plenty of time for you to go off on your own devices. Noooooow….!

Aethan’Tar
You guys have lots to write about, you can start at leaving the tower and being assigned your partner, or maybe during the routines of camp work. I would like you to make sure you write some about your character’s time in camp, and doing their chores and training a little bit. And then – yay! – you can participate in battle. Now remember, you’re all Aethan’Tar and Trollocs are hard enough for Gaidin, let alone Aethan’Tar so I expect you to try and be realistic about this. Rely on your partner (an NPC of your choosing, and you can pair up with a PC Aethan’Tar if you both agree, but individual word counts will be counted) and if worse comes to worse you’ve got a Gaidin to look after you.

Your credits, one more time:

If you write at least 2,000 words, you get a credit.

If you write at least 4,000 words, you get two credits.

If you write at least 5,000 words, you get an Aes Sedai Tasks and a credit

If you write at least 6,000 words, you get an MRP credit

If you write at least 8,000 words, you get MRP credit and a credit.

If you write at least 9,000 words, you get Aes Sedai Tasks credit and two credits.

If you write at least 10,000 words, you get MRP credit and two credits.

Once again, these credits can be put towards for Aethan’Tar: sword RP, weaponry, and optional.

Sei’Tar
Bond emulation anyone? =D Your Aes Sedai will be an NPC played by yourself, but you don’t have to write posts from their point of view if you don’t want to. I’d like you guys to write a bit about the routines of camp and how your character is getting along with their Aes Sedai, how they like the bonding et cetera and what the Aes Sedai is making you do (maybe sit outside while they went to meet with citizens of Podian before the attack or something). Then onto the battle! Sei’Tar are more experience than Aethan’Tar, but Trollocs will still be hard so reflect this. And protect your Aes Sedai above all else! XD

Your credits:

If you write at least 2,000 words, you get a credit.

If you write at least 4,000 words, you get two credits.

If you write at least 5,000 words, you get an Aes Sedai Tasks and a credit

If you write at least 6,000 words, you get an MRP credit

If you write at least 8,000 words, you get MRP credit and a credit.

If you write at least 9,000 words, you get Aes Sedai Tasks credit and two credits.

If you write at least 10,000 words, you get MRP credit and two credits.

And these can go towards specialized weaponry 1 & 2, and optional. Note: Sei’Tar cannot put it towards teaching credit.

Gaidin
Well you have more free reign, you can write about the camping, teaching and protecting Aes Sedai if you desire, or you can just completely focus on the battle. You can even save a poor little Aethan’Tar from having his head caved in by a Trolloc if you want to assign yourself an NPC pair to look after =D. If anyone doing fourth rank joins, once again if you type at least 8,000 words and make sure you use the weapon that you’re specializing in then this can count towards a string requirement. Yay!

You guys can go as quickly or as slowly as you like, but have it all done by Dec 31st because that’s when I’ll be calculating credits. I’ll be reading your strings, so don’t let me catch any godmoding. If you need any help, or have questions et cetera, email me. Have fuun!
