Captain Fordyce's sword was awarded to a William Ferebee of the Currituck Militia after the battle. It stayed in the Ferebee family until 1863 when it was taken from the mantel of a Camden County home by a Yankee patrol, most likely NY or PA cavalry. We believe it was a standard captain's sword as Fordyce was a member of the 14th Regiment of Foot a grenadier unit. No other description is available.

We are attempting to locate the sword for display in our museum at the site of the battle.

What marking would this sword have, I purchased a sword upstate NY many years ago at an auction I listed it on this site a few years ago also.
