Every single day my heart breaks because I had to put my beloved labradoodle Calle to sleep last September. I had given her Merrick wet food, Annamaet, Taste of the Wild dry kibble, and other grain free diets, thinking that all natural, holistic, and no grain dog foods were the absolute best.
She died of cardiomyopathy and every single day I keep asking if I should have done something which would have prevented her from getting the disease. To know that the food I was giving her, food which I trusted to be the healthiest, might have caused her death makes her loss absolutely more crushing. She was the most loving, perfect dog on the planet, and the huge hole in my heart because of her death will now have even more troubling healing.

The problem I have with the list of foods is it is too broad, for example it mentions Blue Buffalo which has many different formulas, but the list does not state which ones were feed to the dogs that ... more

14.5 years is a long life for a dog you can't blame yourself or diet for her death. As dogs age like humans there can be heart issues

Yes, it has been a tough year. We're adapting. Nessy is now getting used to being an "only dog", but I do see changes in her. She's the younger of the two, and had never lived without another dog in... more
