Joe, it was Joyce Milton in "Loss of Eden" who wrote that Baker succeeded Ellerson at Armour. If Ellerson omitted Armour from his employment history in a statement to Inspector Walsh, it might have been an oversight...or very possibly a deliberate evasion (assuming only that Ellerson feared Walsh was on the right track regarding Baker.

And thanks again Ronelle, for placing the Baker Investigation Reports on your site. This guy obviously had a load of street smarts and I believe he was able to direct and deflect any attention which... more

Bob, I've previously read that Ellerson was involved in some position on the "inside" at Armour and I'm wondering if perhaps it was a subsidiary or parent company to Armour, and just under a... more

Joe, I don't have Joyce Milton's book at hand. But I'm quite sure she identified Baker (Bacon) as having replaced Ellerson at Armour. I have no other source for this information. It can't be... more

Bob, while I've always thought of Baker as a good suspect, I'm afraid I don't share any of your enthusiasm at all for a Capone connection. Capone had nothing more than a mistaken belief someone he... more

Well, Joe...if Capone couldn't validate his promise to return the Eaglet to his parents, then he'd have been guilty of obstruction of justice or some similar offense. And if Hauptmann had been a lone ... more

You might be right after all, Bob (insert LOL) as to Capone's involvement in the LKC. How's about phrasing somewhat differently? Such as: Capone was musing and talking with people who worked for/with ... more

That's about the way I see it, Joe. Let's remember that in 1932 we (the public) knew relatively little about how the Mafia functions. All that changed in the 1960s and afterward, with the Valachi... more

Bob, it's hard to know where to start in rebuttal. Perhaps Capone admitting to knowing nothing, but of course offering to altruistically help out for a get out of jail free card, (nothing to lose)... more

Joe, I have in fact written a book about this. "Conscience of a Conspiracy Theorist" dealt specifically with your belief that "too many people would have (talked)..." which you advanced in a recent... more

Bob, it wasn't my point specifically that someone would have talked. Please read my post again for the reasons I stated. I actually disagree with Jack. Anyone directly involved in a case of this... more

I wish Capone would come back to Earth for a few minutes, so we could question him about his offer to return the Eaglet to the Lindberghs. If Capone had been DIRECTLY involved with the kidnapping,... more

That may well be. I just think that the Capone theory, the Lindbergh did it theory, the Baker "connection" and whatever else people can dream up should more clearly be labeled as speculation instead... more
