Well, of course "Matteson's idea" was correct, but hadn't Finn thought of it earlier and been turned town? Was a no brainer and mentioned above and on the forum many times. Perhaps not mentioned on this forum, but others.
As mentioned above, the "x" and hyphenated New-York and German name would have got him at least for investigation, then it would have been obvious.
