Yes, my point was that if Lindbergh had set this up as a fake kidnapping, and of course known the envelope on the windowsill was part of the staging, he would have opened it right away and not involved the police. The eventual explanation of course would have been, he was acting in the best interests of seeing his son safely returned. Instead, he did the exact opposite, left the envelope on the windowsill and notified the police. By doing so, he essentially invited the entire world and the press he loathed, to his front door. Lindbergh clearly had nothing to do with this.
