faked kidnapping scenarios

I don't think the kidnapping was faked either, Joe. But for the benefit of the forum, it might be helpful to enumerate the various theories that have been advanced over the years. Here are three (not necessarily a complete list).

1) The Eaglet died as the result of an accident that it suffered during some kind of sadistic horseplay on the part of Lindy, who then staged the kidnapping to avoid revealing the truth. FACT: Lindy did engage in dangerous pranks.

2) Elisabeth Morrow (Anne Lindbergh's sister), who suffered from emotional and physical ailments, killed the Eaglet out of jealousy, because she had expected to marry Lindy before he proposed to Anne. Lindy staged the kidnapping to spare Elisabeth from prosecution. FACT: The Eaglet, while still in diapers, was a "pupil" at Elisabeth Morrow's nursery school, mixed among children several years older, whom she allowed to tease the Eaglet mercilessly.

3) Lindy killed the Eaglet, who had a birth defect (several kinds have
been suggested). Lindy, as a eugenicist, couldn't abide the notion of his child being defective, and created a false kidnapping scenario to cover his own venal act. FACT: Lindy studied eugenics with Dr. Alexis Carrel.

How would you do a fake kidnapping? And what would be the motive. If it's to get rid of Charlie there are lots of easy ways to do it, and legal too. After all these years of questioning the crime,... more

Again, Joe, I agree with you that the Eaglet's kidnapping wasn't faked. But to play devil's advocate for a moment, I'd say it was barely possible. If we assume the Eaglet was already dead, then to... more

Bob, it was far more than the ransom money that convinced the jury Hauptmann was very much involved. The other physical circumstantial evidence against him is inarguable in that regard and remember... more

You bring up evidence - there is absolutely no evidence of Charlie being accidentally or intentionally killed and the kidnapping a cover up. After 85 years of digging, no evidence!
