Here's another legitimate source to exemplify what Fisher actually believed:

To this day he believes that Hauptmann could not possibly have stolen the baby without associates.

This comes from an interview that George Hawke had with Fisher in 1951. Did either Hawke or Fisher think we'd all have access to this? I'd so "no" and most especially now since its at the NJSP Archives. It's 'safe' there because its easier just to use things like the Shuman quote rather then actually go and research through the source material. Besides, what's written above won't be "liked" by the Lone-Wolf people so its best to avoid it.

This sort of comment baffles me. There are literally thousands of source material documents for what Fisher actually believed. There's documentation about what Fisher did after the execution and when ... more

Remember that Hauptmann professed his complete innocence of any involvement in the crime to the same Lloyd Fisher. For Fisher to have told George Hawke that Hauptmann was guilty but believed he had... more

Fisher may have believed Hauptmann was innocent at the very beginning but as Fisher found himself wading in incriminating evidence up to his armpits he had his personal legal epiphany. What Fisher... more
