Sue for Amy
The Sid Whipple Mystery

A few weeks ago you seemed very intrigued by the Sidney Whipple mystery.

I didn't want a pat on the back for DOING the research, I wanted to discuss the content of what I had found.

Since you seemed so interested in the mystery and did Irish/Scottish genealogical research on the topic, I thought from your posts that you also wanted to solve the Sid Whipple puzzle.

Do you think the "Mac" of the Sidney Whipple dedication page is Mac McKaughan, former Vice President and Director of Advertising at J. B. Lippincott?

Or is "Mac," author Betty MacDonald's husband, Donald Chauncey MacDonald?

Scotsmen are sometimes referred to as "dour."

Betty MacDonald referred to her husband as dour, according to author Paula Becker.

Certainly not as Sid Whipple wrote in that inscription --

"the only Scot who ever had a heart."
