Five days prior to Lindbergh's death, Warner Bros. Television announced it had bought the rights to George Waller's 1961 book, "Kidnap."
The next day, Columbia Pictures Television announced it had signed J.P. Miller to write an original two-hour TV script about the kidnapping and trial.

Aviation pioneer Alexander deSeversky and Lindbergh were friends and fellow members of the L.I. Country Club Airport in (what was then) Hicksville, NY. deSeversky died three days before Lindbergh, and his funeral was held one day after Lindbergh's.
