fBerrys Mill, Holmfirth
Sun Feb 21, 2016 09:10

I wonder if anyone can elaborate at all on a photo of Berrys' Mill, Holmfirth. This is a photograph that came my way from New Zealand, on the back it says "cloth mill, Holmfirth ? Berry family" the name written underneath gives some clue as the writer, Kathleen Hinchliffe, was born in 1899 & married in 1926 so it must have been between those 2 dates.

My connection is through my mother's Renshaw line, my great grandfather's sister, Ann Renshaw 1867-1929 married Harry Berry b 1860, son of Godfrey Berry & Ann Longley.

In the 1911 census Harry gives his occupation as "woollen merchant" so all this could point to him or maybe his sons Charles Alfred 1898 - 1981 & Ralph Noel 1900-1983 owning a mill.

I would be pleased to receive any info you can help with.
