Yeah I read everything I could get my hands one in 1970 about Marianne Hill. Too bad no internet back then. Heck no DVD or VHS then either. I had to spend half a weeks pay and see El Condor 29 times in three days just so I could see Marianna Hill undress. OHHH MY it was fun. But after the 22nd time I got kind of use to it and could have actually walked around without having a place to put one's hat just below my belt buckle:-) I could go get a Coke then. Of course I kept telling myself that I kept going back because Lee Van Cleef was in it and it was a very good film. AND IT WAS A GOOD FILM!!! Too bad it only did average box office here in the states and when I first saw the film I figured this would be the one to do for Lee what other films did for Clint and Charles Bronson. Clint and Bronson became big stars in Europe first then transfered that to the United States. Lee too became a top 5 box office draw in Italy, Spain and Germany. From 1966 to 1970 Lee was as big there as John Wayne or Henry Fonda or Bette Davis had ever been here. But he never got it going it the states.
Back to Hill. I knew where there was "credits" books on actors in the library but the local library's books didn't have her among the actors listed but Lee was. One book had TV show credits in it and Lee was in that too.
But a month later I was in Washington, D. C. at the big library there and found info on Hill's career. So I knew she had worked with Elvis years ago. Then in December of 1970 I noticed in the many papers I was reading that the other movie with Hill nude was playing at a drive-inn in Frederick, Maryland and I drove all the way up there from SW Virginia to see it. And I wasn't disappointed. The only problem was that it was in the middle of December and after the hot stuff came on the screen, I began to steam up my windshield, so I started my motor and cut on the defrost but it was too slow so I used my paper napkin that came with my hot dog and Coke and kept wipping my windshield so I could see Ms. Hill.
I'm not sure what is the reason Hill provided such personal information about Henry Kissinger. No only did she confirm that she let him have it, but that Henry's sexual performance with her, on a 1 to 10, was below a 5. She should have kept that to herself!!! NEVER KISS AND TELL!!! It's not right for the other party and just isn't cool.
Mamie Van Doren provided some names and particulars when her book came out but just highlites. Well to have gone into detail with rating the individual performances on a 1 to 10 basis for over 500 different men would take a book 2,000 pages long:-) But Mamie had a "backfire" too. One of the 500 plus men she did mention was Burt Reynolds and Reynolds blew a fuse!! He was mad as hell and let Mamie know it and protested against Mamie loud and clear in the press. Again; never kiss and tell. And how would Mamie like it if a man said she was lousy in bed. But I think Mamie did it, just as she provides all the details on her website ( I read the blow by blow, on pun intended, account of her getting Tony Curtis in her dressing room and if Mamie got told the truth, she and Curtis set the sheets on fire!!!) anyway, I think Mamie is doing it to sell books and attract viewers to her website so she can sell more nude pictures of herself and other items she has. But I don't think that is right. Yeah I think the 1959 version of Mamie Van Doren is one hot woman and not many men could pass up the opportunity, but atleast I would have been a nobody and would have escaped her "kiss and tell" book. Well unless she was so impressed with me that she had to mention the unknown guy. Ha Ha. I'm just kidding myself about that:-)
Did you noticed some sites where one can download the El Condor scene and watch it just like watching the film? I don't have to do that. I can go to that scene and press "repeat" A at the start of the scene, then B at the end, and my DVD player will recycle the entire scene over and over until I'm done..er.. I mean ready to watch something else.
Also I think Ms Hill's El Condor's scene was the first time I had seen a "frontal nude shot" in any movie. I had seen breasts before which for me then would make me feel like an earthquake was going on in my town, I remember Ursula Andress was the first lady I saw her breasts in a movie in the late 60's and then she did a multi-picture nude layout in Playboy and I got that and carried it around 24 hours a day for a week or so, but when I saw Hill in El Condor and you could SEE EVERYTHING!! Even where the front of her panties would cover..well as I said..I had to postpone going after my Coca-Cola. There was NO way I could walk to the lobby like that! I am too shy and in 1970 the theatre manager probably would have thrown me out!! Manager:"You sick freak! Get out of my theatre right now" Me: I came here to see Lee Van Cleef in his new film. I didn't know YOUR damn movie was going to have a scene that would jack me up and splatter me against the wall like that! It's not my fault. I demand a refund. You should have had a sign out there that said 'any men who are easily tempted to totally FREAK enter at the risk of being tossed out'".
I just bet Marianna Hill, who really isn't a great actor but just Okay, got into High Plains Drifter because Clint saw her in El Condor. That was a rumor going around back then and it just seems likely. And likely too is that Clint hired her because of that scene, wanting to have this girl, so he puts her in his movie and puts the moves on her and she not only liked it on screen but off scene as well.
I'm beginnig to think Hill was kinda like Shelly Winters, Yvonne De Carlo and Mamie Van Doren. She really liked sex and liked to hook up with new interesting men, especially if they were known actors.
But the vibe I get from Lee is that he may have pretty much stuck to whoever his wife wife was. Yes he suddenly dropped two wives and POP he was married to someone new and Lee and his third wife, I think, didn't mess around at all, but it could be he strayed with his first wife..I kinda think that may be the case in the 1950's, but I kinda doubt Lee was a player like Clint, Steve McQueen, Shelly Winters, Mamie Van Doren, Marianna Hill etc. If Hill got any off camera action while in Spain doing El Condor and it invovled one of the stars of the film, it would have been Jim Brown in my opinion.
But we don't know and it's none of our business anyway. But it's fun to speculate:-)
