I'm with Bette Davis in the 1930's, Teresa Wright (doesn't she look lovely in the last scene of "The Best Years Of Our Lives" in 1946) in the 1940's and Mamie Van Doren in the 1950's. That is what it is. The dreams are so vivid and real that I sometimes forget and think I was actually an adult in those decades:-)
BTW according to Robert Osborn on Turner Classic Movies, most movie critics say "The Best Years of Our Lives" starring Myrna Loy, Frederick March, Dana Andrews, Teresa Wright and released in 1946 and won several academy awards including BEST PICTURE...many movie critics and actress Bette Davis also said the same and that is IT IS THE BEST MOTION PICTURE EVER MADE!!
I don't know if I would say that but it IS a wonderful film. And in the last scene when Teresa Wright discovers Dana Andrews' character wants to marry her, a big smile breaks out on her pretty face and as her head goes back so he can kiss her, her hat falls off! Such a tender and precious scene!
I also like Dana Andrews as an actor. I have Balls of Fire (1940), Laura (1944) Best Years of Our Lives (1946) and Where the Sidewalk Ends (1950) on DVD.
And there is a Lee Van Cleef connection. In 1975, long after Andrews was no longer a leading man, he had a nice supporting role in "Take A Hard Ride". Yeah that is that title that Alanna and Kelly are crazy about. I never will forget when that Lee Van Cleef film was a topic of discussion how Alanna and Kelly noticed the title of that LVC film could be spun in a different and very sexy way.
I was thinking after reading their several little cute remarks about that title. Those crazy ladies. I KNOW just how they feel about their Lee!!! I'm the same way about Mamie Van Doren, Jane Mansfield, Marilyn Monroe, Marianna Hill, YOUNG Shelly Winters, Teresa Wright, Virginia Mayo, YOUNG Bette Davis, Pamela Tiffin, Karen Steele, Elizabeth Taylor (especially in Call Butterfield 8! She plays a call girl. AHHOOOOO), Audrey Hepburn in Roman Holiday, Ingred Bergman in Gaslight, Christine McIntyre in any of the 30 Three Stooge shots she did and Mae West in that film where she says "IS THAT A PICKLE IN YOUR POCKET BIG BOY OR ARE YOU JUST GLAD TO SEE ME?". And in my dream I always say "I'm glad to see you Mae" and I hide the fact that I DO have a pickle in my pocket:-)
