Hope you are well my T-Shirt lady! So you're from OK too! You and Alanna have three things I know in common! Lee, OK and both are pretty ladies!

How do you like Texas? I remember driving across Texas years ago and it took FOREVER! It's a BIG state.

Will never forget being sent home from school early because President Kennedy had been killed in Dallas. And CBS News in New York was on the air and they kept switching to their Dallas station and Dallis news man Eddie Barker. It wasn't long until Barker told the national audience that a doctor just came up to him who is always a very good source and told him the Kennedy was dead.

The President was shot at 12:30 PM central time and in New York, the soap opera "As the World Turns" was coming on the air at the same time at 1:30 PM eastern time. It was seven minutes later that CBS News broke in with just a "Bulletin" slide on the screen and Walter Cronkite's voice told my mother at home that three shots have been fired at President Kennedy in downtown Dallas in an apparent attempt on his life. Yesterday I watched the CBS feed from New York in "real time" starting with "As the World Turns" and it was amazing how primitive TV news was then. When CBS News in New York finally was on the screen, it was just TV reporters in the news room with telephones and wire service and their Dallas station set up at the Dallas Trade Mart where Kennedy was to speak. No live shots of the crime scene or Parkland Hospital. Only a few pictures that were sent to New York by wire and the ONE camera in the newsroom would zoom but it was still hard to make it out as Walter held them up.

Later they did have cameras set up at the Dallas city jail when Lee Harvey Oswald was being moved from the city jail to the county jail and I was watching LIVE TV from my parents home when Jack Ruby jumped out from a crowd of bystanders and shot Oswald in the gut and he was rushed to the same hospital and died in the same hospital emergency room.

If one has read about the killing of Kennedy, he was killed instantly! The third shot struck him in the head and exploded the right side of his head & he fell over in his wife's lap but she crawled out onto the trunk of the car yelling "They have killed my husband". He was dead when he arrived at the hospital but they waited sometime before they made it official.

I remember thinking a few months later that they would probably do a thrilling movie about this and that Lee Van Cleef would be perfect to play Lee Harvey Oswald. But a movie was never made until years later by Oliver Stone called "JFK".
