Cool an' the Gang
Sat Dec 23, 2017 11:37pm, Doc --- I didn't "forget" Peter Lawford: I specifically said "and the gang" to include the "others" beyond the chief triumvirate of The Messrs. Cool that are the Rat Pack.

While not "as" Cool as Dino, Ol' Blue Eyes, an' Sammy Davis, Jr., Peter Lawford definitely had a certain amount of suavité.

Joey Bishop, on the other hand, looked uncomfortable in a tux, and was the primary Comic Relief for the 'Pack. Not much "Cool" goin' on there!

Btw, both OCEANS 11 (the orginal, 1960 iirc) and ROBIN AND THE 7 HOODS (64) are officially Studio-listed as, and definitely considered to be, Comedies.

Beyond the Humor Scenes "intended" by the filmmakers...if one laughs at the Wardrobe, (non-Comedic) Behavior, Era-based Slang and Dialogue -- well, that's a matter of Personal Taste and Sense of Hummus. (sic)

While I certainly agree to your "over-indulgent" tag on CANNONBALL RUN (81) --- it, too, is designated a Comedy (if an Action-Comedy).

But I haven't seen it in years, so am reserving judgement on CR as "unadulterated garbage". You may very well be correct, but that's a strong enough term that I'd rather watch the movie again before agreeing to it. ;)

And, as you prolly know, both Dino & Joey Bishop were LVC's co-stars: Dean Martin in THE YOUNG LIONS (1958), an' Joey in THE JOEY BISHOP SHOW episode, "Double Exposure" (s1e21, OAD: wed.7.feb.62).

Actually, Sinatra and Lawford had a huge falling out. Something to do with JFK canceling a stay at Sinatra's house due to Sinatra's alleged criminal ties. Sinatra felt that Lawford didn't make any... more
