Several years ago Earl Holliman, who is still living and apparently is gay, said in an interview the characters were presented as being gay and the director pushed the envelope with the censors of 1954 to indicated it. Also a scene with Jean Wallace and Richard Conte made it but star Cornel Wilde blasted the director and swore he would never work with him again. Wallace was Wilde's wife at the time.
