It's true that in LVC's time, it was easier to have some privacy and no, we will never know their private lives. I suppose it's none of my business, either, but natural curiosity gets the best of me at times!

I don't know if I would have gotten along with him , either, Maggie. I wouldn't call him a male chauvinist pig, but he did have more old-fashioned ideas of a woman's role in a man's life, I think. From something he said in an interview with Aaron once, Barbara sometimes had difficulty having her "alone" time, as he didn't want to let her out of his sighr, That bothered me somewhat because I had a very possessive husband once upon a time ago, and it is suffocating. I understand he always had wife at set-side when he made a movie (Joan) and traveled with Barbara whenever she had a concert or engagement away from home.

I'm more in his generation (23 years age difference), but my background wasn't dissimilar, at least as far as growing up in a somewhat rural area, but mine was in Western Pennsylvania. As far as his relationship with alcohol, that was very much in my life for many years and I have some insights about why it happens. LVC's life wasn't a total picnic, wasit? His service in WWII, marriages and divorces, the bad car accident, his illnesses. Thank heavens he had the incredible experience of success in Europe!

I am embarrassed to admit I haven't seen all of LVC's movies. I hope that's not a reason to drum me out of the group! In fact, last night, I watched "Beyond the Law" for the first time - I loved it! I need to watch it again! So far, I love all of his movies and once I see the remainder, I should have a better idea of which I like best. I'm anxious to get hold of "Bad Man's River" because I'm unaware of the controversy!

Thank you so much for your input, Maggie - it's so valuable to me. When did you first realize you are a "Bad Babe" or LVC Fan?

I do not know whether we will ever be able to really sort that out, it was a time when it was much easier to sidestep limelights and tabloids (unless you were called Burton or Taylor, but with their... more
