MirageHello MarkFri Mar 9, 2012 03:0263.194.75.2I assume you are Mark Howard. I went to your site. I don't usually click links from people I don't know but I did visit your site because I wanted to see if you said anything there about your own personal experience with Jesus. I read about your life and how you found Jesus. I hope you don't feel hurt if I say this but I think if you shared a little bit of that in posts that you make on forums, people might identify more, even if you don't go into the more painful details.
I see that you have overcome great tragedy and read about your accident. Three of my four grandparents died as the direct result of alcohol. One was an accident victim, and the other two drank themselves to death. I am glad that your faith has given you the strength to recover and change your life. My dad was raised by his grandmother after his mother got especially drunk, locked herself in a bathroom with a gun to her head and passed him a suicide note under the door to take to his father. Dad was 5 or 6 and he could read it. His grandmother came and took him out of that house when she heard about this incident. She was religious and a teetotaler, and raised him like her own child even though she was a widow by then and didn't have much money to spare. My dad's mother had untreated emotional problems but my grandfather stayed with her and when she insisted she didn't like drinking alone, he drank with her. He died of it first. I am sure that if it weren't for my great grandmother taking my dad to raise, I would never have been born and I am not sure my father would have survived to adulthood. I just said a prayer thanking God that you and I are both here.
I appreciate what you're trying to do, but I will be honest and tell you that when people handed me tracts I read them and they didn't convince me. Most people I knew then didn't read them, just tossed them, or else they made fun of them. I was in with a music and film crowd. The internet is not a particularly faith friendly audience for the most part. It's good that you came back here to talk this time. Now we can get to know you.
