You are correct, and maybe even understating it a bit. Michigan has a law that allows the state to take over any city, fire all the elected officials, appoint a manager who can do just about anything he wants, including selling off any and all assets the city has, break any contract the city has, and maintain this for as long as he deems necessary. There is no recourse to this. And the State in its constitution clearly states that no law shall go into effect until 90 after the session it was created in has passed. Unless 2/3 of the senate and house vote that it take effect immediately. Since the Republications has gained control of both houses 549 of the 599 bills passed has gone into effect immediately. And this is despite the fact that they (the Rep.) fall 10 short of having an automatic 2/3. Yet the Democrats have failed to protest--until now. They have finally filed a law suit. The next law on the docket for the state is one restricting voting rights. If all this is allowed to stand, then it will spread, and much too quickly voting will be a thing we can tell out grandchildren about. Americans like to think they are the best--and we are--we are the best Third World country out there.
