In many places we already have a Hispanic majority, and they really don't seem very interested in that. Remember that most Mexican immigrants come here because they want better opportunities than they had in Mexico. Some towns near the border do accept both US and Mexican currencies, but that tends to be true of border towns in a lot of places.

What we do have in California off and on is small movements to become a country of our own. The reasons for that are entirely political and cultural rather than ethic, and those movements never go far. The last time it got much press was basically an anti-war protest movement.
